04-30-2015 April Month end Results

This is the first official losing month for my little project - not earth shattering, but considering that I was up over $4K during the month its not great either. Both charts had issues near the end of the month - and I see that the last week of every month has had draw down issues - hmmmm - maybe there is a correlation... something to think about over the weekend.

This Month's Results - April 2015:

The portfolio lost $1687.20 this month, mostly due to an ugly last week of the month that lost $4700

Also, there were two experimental charts that I ran early in the month... that together lost $3K - the ES-5m-727AM and the EMD-5m-826AM. In hindsight, both of these charts would have made up their loss if I had let them run for the entire month - in fact, combined, they would have made about $3500 in profit. There are other reasons why I left those charts off which I won't go into here - but it does make a strong statement about the process that I'm using to decide to turn certain charts on - that decision needs to be combined with a commitment to run it for at least a month unless it totally breaks down.

oh well - there goes April. This will be my first negative month since starting this project. Tomorrow will determine how negative, but there's no way to make up all the losses in one day.

 Another loss on Mr.Reliable.... hmmmm

I got the double trade again today - this time it actually made a good trade and then committed suicide. All of this happened in about 2 minutes.

04-28-2015 Results

Bye Bye Profits.... a good trade on the Version 2 &:30 chart, but the new chart lost again

The new chart had a double trade - it started going long (which would have worked) but because of the way the program works it hit the other sell stop before it could be pulled by the system so it switched to short, causing another loss - this happens sometimes.

04-27-2015 Results

Yuk - 2 stop losses today. I had decided to increase to 4 contracts on the new chart, so that added to the pain... the cost of doing business.

Today;s Action:

 The market ultimately went much lower as the system predicted, but there was too much heat to the upside before going lower - so I was stopped out

Increasing this to 4 contracts today made it hurt a little worse...

04-24-2015 Weekly results

An interesting week, the new chart had 4 winners in a row then a stop loss, and the reliable 7:30 Russell Version 2 chart has been on a roll since 4/7/2015 with 14 winners in a row. I'm not sure yet if I will make any changes for next week - guess you will have to wait and see...

With 2 charts running, there was only the one loser today - all other trades were winners... and in total the two charts made $3810 this week - I'll take it

There are 4 more trading days in April - hoping to pull out a good month

The new chart was not as fortunate - since it tend to get in a little later and stay a little longer, the trend reversal killed it quickly

I added a chart with a new twist this week. The new Russell chart is a 6 minute chart with all new parameters - hopefully  it will perform similarly to its back test, which was amazingly good.

So for this week I am only running two charts - the 7:30 Version 2 Russell chart (2 contracts) and the new 6 minute Russell chart(3 contracts)

Today's Action:

 A nice counter-trend trade today in the 7:30

04-17-2015 Weekly Results

Its been a pretty good week - especially considering the last couple of weeks. Simplifying back to  a single chart with 2 contracts has made things quite simple. The two charts that hurt me last week - the S&P and Mid-Cap charts both have won most of the week - just goes to show (again)... that the winning formula is to pick a path and stay on it for a while.

I will likely introduce a new Russell chart next week - it has been "simmering" for a while and I think I'm ready to trade it - stay tuned.

The one chart made $1675 trading two contracts on the Russell - pretty good, but not quite enough to offset the past two weeks performance. Looking for continued improvement next week.

Obviously I'm disappointed with the results this week. I am certainly my own worst enemy. I haven't made a decision on what will be traded next week.

This weeks totals:

I really messed up running the range bar charts before doing enough testing. And I also ran the new S&P and Mid Cap charts before testing correctly - although they both would have been winners on Friday - I'll watch them for a while before throwing them away.

I need to simplify and rebuild.
